Intro: The Night Before.

I was told I should start blog. My life, apparently, is exciting enough to read about.

Until someone uttered the idea into existence, I'd considered my life to be exceptionally boring. Possibly lackluster. Most definitely overworked and supersaturated with activity. There was no way, I'd so surely thought, that anybody would care about my rehearsals, my assignments, my projects. My life was defined by school, defined by dance, and it was the epitome of lame.

I'd said this plainly in conversation last night, and at that point my cousin had stopped scrolling through her twitter to stare at me. Eyes wide and eyebrow cocked, her lips popped open before shaking her head to say, "Sam Moon, you go to a performing arts high school. How could your life possibly be lame?"

I wanted to tell her that instead of traveling to the beach this summer I'd stayed home to complete an internship. I wanted to tell her I'd been booked solid with rehearsals and student council events two weeks prior to the start of school. I wanted to shake her by the shoulders, rattle some perspective into her brain and scream, "Sydney! I'm taking six AP's and three dance classes! How could you think my life is anything more than a full-time job?"

But sometime after I'd plunged into a furious blush and deflected the complements on my artsy-fartsy lifestyle, I realized I had nothing to moan about. After two months of interning at UT Southwestern Medical Center, two weeks of leading freshman orientation and attending dance rehearsals, and only two days away from the start of my senior year at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, I finally came to terms with it.

My life is far from boring.

Tonight, the night before my last year in Booker T.'s dance cluster, before my year-long term as student council Vice President, before my second year as a dancer on BTW's Repertory Dance Company II, and before my much anticipated marathon called the college admissions process, I decided to start this blog.

My life, apparently, is something exciting enough to read about.

Yeah, we'll see about that.
